This hands-on ultrasound workshop is designed to teach physicians and physician assistants the fundamentals of ultrasound imaging for point-of-care ultrasound.  The workshop will cover the science behind the production of ultrasound, critical knobology and keyboard functions, best scanning practices, and overall image optimization methods while scanning the abdomen and heart.  As a result of attending the workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe the fundamentals of ultrasound imaging, including how color and spectral doppler works
  • Differentiate knobology and keyboard functions by reviewing each function and applying knowledge during a live scanning session
  • Define sonographic terminology as it relates to the sonographic appearance of structures
  • Recognize imaging artifacts and how to utilize posterior acoustical shadowing and enhancement artifacts during imaging
  • Employ rudimentary scanning techniques and probe manipulations for obtaining the most diagnostic images during a live scanning session
  • Demonstrate how to optimize images using keyboard functions while scanning

The cost is $100.  The session will offer 3 hours of AMA and AOA Category 1-A credits.  See the flyer for the accreditation sponsor info.  Space is limited to the first 20 registrants. To pay by check, complete and mail the registration form with payment.  To pay by credit card, use link below.
